Writing

When I was younger, writing was one of my favorite things to do. I've written the script for my short films Shark Barkley: Officer of the Law, Cult Following, and Advice Krispies. I also write short stories, and am currently looking for a home for two pieces of weird fiction.

The GREENMAN GAZETTE

In 2024 I began writing a series of zines called The Greenman Gazette. These zines, produced in the style of a DIY news publication, followed the supernatural events in the fictional town of Gerald's Pine. Each issue includes rebuttals and newspaper clippings from the town's blissfully ignorant journalists, as well as art and short stories related to the existential folk horror of the town. Each zine is available to read free online, and can physical copies can be bought from The Graveyard House through direct messages, or by visiting at local vendor fairs.

Shark Barkley: Officer of the Law

Writing Shark Barkley was weird for me because we weren't supposed to have any dialogue, with the exception I was allowed of one phrase spoken in such slow motion it is barely recognizable. My inspiration for this film came entirely from a stupid pun. I always used to look at no dumping signs, before I knew what they meant, and jokingly assumed it had to do with emotional split ups.  In my videography class we were required to bring in a pitch for the films we wanted to direct, and I was having a case of writer's block. I went in with nothing to say, but I remembered seeing a no dumping sign the day prior and ran with it. With ten minutes until it was my turn to make my pitch, I jotted down some basic elements I could throw around it, and threw them into something like and old movie trailer narration.  It caught the whole class' attention, and so I rolled with the idea. Now I have a film about an overzealous cop in a lazy town where the only real crime anyone ever commits is illegal dumping. It's time for that cop to take out the trash.
